Roy Yabuki - Rocky Mountains an Plains (RMP) Regional Field Director, Lisa Yabuki - RMP Administrator - Both - Campus Staff at UT Arlington
Roy and Lisa purpose is to share Christ’s love with all the the international students in the North Texas area. As we do this, we look for who God is already working in who are ready to discover Jesus through God’s Word and become disciples that make disciples. We also act as a catalyst to help the Body of Christ do likewise.
Roy serves as the Rocky Mountain and Plains Regional Field Director for International Students Inc., Roy is responsible for International Student Inc.’s ministry in 13 states (AR, CO, IA, KS, MN, MO, ND, NE, NM, OK, SD, TX, WY). In these states, there are 118 staff/Ministry Representatives and 3850 volunteers seeking to serve the over 213,445 international students and scholars on 669 campuses in the region. Over 1300 students were involved in Bible study with staff this year. Roy’s role is, without his own immediate staff, to be a shepherd, recruiter, training coordinator, strategy planner, chief administrator, financial overseer, problem solver and general overseer for the many ministries in this vast area.
Lisa, professionally a teacher in the Intensive English Program at Dallas Baptist University, also serves with the ISI team at UT Arlington under North Texas Area Director, Ron Bunyard. Roy and Lisa restarted this ministry in 1998 when they came to Texas from Orange County, CA. Roy was also the architect of the restarting of the TCU ministry. Roy helps with the local ministry at UTA (learn more at www.utaisi.org) by leading one of the Friday night Fellowship teams and by directing the Big Howdy (learn more at www.utabighowdy.com) combined ministry international student welcome events. . Lisa also serves as Roy’s administrator in regional matters.
Roy is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary, Moody Bible Institute and Princeton University and is ordained through Fielder Church (SBC) in Arlington, TX. He uses his training and his prior experience as an engineer every day in his work with students. Roy & Lisa, married in 1996 at Calvary Church in Santa Ana, CA, have three children and they enjoy living in Arlington, TX.
